What is the History of Pasadena?

Pasadena is named after the French city of the same name. When the area was still a Mexican territory, a military outpost was established, then a trading post. This eventually led to the creation of a small town. The town of Pasadena was founded in 1839 when General Gordon M. Brew arrived in the area. At the time, it was designated as a trading post between San Antonio and Los Angeles. The town was originally called “Las Isletas,” which means “The Little Islands.” The town was incorporated on November 21, 1886. It had a population of about 1,000 people at the time. Today, the city has about 150,000 residents.
