Bayou Bend Collection and Gardens

If you want to spend an afternoon or evening in downtown Houston, you can visit the Bayou Bend Collection and Gardens. Located at 6003 Memorial Dr, Houston, TX 77007. The historic house, built in 1928, is now a museum of American decorative arts. Visitors can explore its 14 acres of organically maintained grounds. Ima Hogg was a philanthropist and a noted Punster. Her father, Governor George Hogg, was a prominent figure in Texas history. While living in the house, she developed the gardens, which she maintained until her death in 1975. Next blog post.

If you have a passion for fine art, the Museum of Fine Arts is a must-see. This museum contains artwork from around the world. Its highlights include a collection of Impressionist and Renaissance paintings, American decorative arts, and sculptures. There are also displays of pre-Columbian and African gold. The Museum also hosts a free daily guided tour. Visitors should also visit the nearby Museum of Fine Arts, a satellite of Bayou Bend Collection and Gardens. Visitors should not miss the Lora Jean Kilroy Visitor and Education Center. The center houses introductory videos, art objects, and memorabilia. With four floors of permanent exhibits, the Museum of Natural Science also includes the Burke Baker Planetarium and the Cockrell Butterfly Conservatory. For art lovers, there are several art museums and galleries in Houston. If you’re an art enthusiast, the City of Houston has plenty to offer. It’s the fourth largest city in the U.S. and has a large number of churches of great architectural and historical interest. As with any major city, there are some places that are closed due to global health concerns. But the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo will still be open for you to enjoy the beautiful surroundings.
